From Science to Solutions: LS4FUTURE – BIAL Matchmaking Initiative Now Open

We are pleased to invite you to an upcoming LS4FUTURE online information session in collaboration with BIAL, focused on a new LS4FUTURE-BIAL matchmaking initiative.

This initiative aims to foster scientific and technological collaborations between LS4FUTURE researchers and BIAL’s R&D teams, particularly in areas such as:

  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Epilepsy
  • Rare diseases (novel therapeutic modalities, including antisense oligonucleotides)
  • Central Nervous System (CNS)

In addition to scientific synergies, BIAL is also interested in technical and technological capabilities that complement their internal expertise (e.g., flow cytometry and other specialized platforms).

Title: How different areas of BIAL R&D contribute to transform ideas into candidates
Date: May 21st
Time: 9:00 AM (Lisbon time)
Format: Online via Zoom (link here)

Speakers from BIAL

  • Nuno Pires: Senior Manager, In vivo Pharmacology & Translation

  • Laszlo Kiss: Senior Manager, Medicinal Chemistry

  • Soraia Santos: Senior Manager, Process Chemistry

  • Vânia Batalha: Senior Manager, Neuroscience in vitro Pharmacology & Biology

During this session, BIAL will:

  • Present key R&D areas (medicinal chemistry, computational chemistry, structural biochemistry, and process chemistry)
  • Share current unmet needs and collaboration opportunities
  • Introduce the matchmaking programme structure and expectations

About the Matchmaking Initiative

The programme will unfold in three phases:

  1. Expression of Interest: Researchers submit a short profile via an online form
  2. Internal Evaluation: BIAL reviews submissions
  3. On-site Matchmaking Event: Selected participants engage in targeted discussions

The goal is to identify:

  • Joint research projects
  • Co-development of models or validation of targets/compounds
  • Complementary technological capabilities

This initiative is being developed with the support of the Technology Transfer Offices across LS4FUTURE partner institutions.

We strongly encourage you to attend this session if you are interested in exploring collaboration opportunities with BIAL.
