LS4FUTURE invites PhD students and Postdocs to Careers Beyond Academia: From Reflection to Action Workshop.

This in-person workshop is designed to guide early academic researchers through the process of career exploration, starting with reflection on their interests, skills, and values to clarify professional goals.

Building on this foundation, the session will then introduce career opportunities beyond academia, with a focus on roles in industry, startups, policy, consulting, and non-profits.

Participants will gain tools to identify potential career paths, understand how their expertise can be applied in different contexts, and learn practical strategies to position themselves for success.

One of the core missions of LS4FUTURE is to provide career development training to early career researchers. Exposure to non‑academic careers is essential, and knowing transferable skills, alternative pathways, and practical job‑search strategies increases their career options, accelerates transitions into fulfilling roles, improves retention of talent in the sector, and helps institutions align training with real‑world workforce needs.

Dr. Ana Osório Oliveira
Ana is a Researcher and a Career Program Manager at Karolinska Institutet. Ana has 12+ years of research experience, many as a mentor, and has been involved in various activities of science communication & outreach, career advice, and academia-industry transitions
