Seed Funding – Pathway to Larger Grants: Call now open

We are pleased to announce the launch of  the 3rd edition of the “Seed Funding – Pathway to Larger Grants”, an internal funding initiative. This competitive call opened on January 28th and closes on the 27th of February by 5pm.

The main objective of this competitive call is to foster collaboration among partner institutions and enhance team preparedness for international funding applications. The scheme will allocate funding to four short collaborative projects, each receiving up to €20,000, with a project duration spanning up to 8 months. Projects within this initiative are expected to focus on establishing consortia, creating the required conditions, or generating pilot data, all aimed at leveraging applications for larger collaborative international grants.

Only LS4FUTURE principal investigators are eligible as main applicants, meaning researchers from ITQB NOVA, NMS, NIMSB, IPO and iBET also team members in our Research Units: MOST-MICRO, GREEN-it, iNOVA4Health.

FAQs

1.Can the “Seed fund” be used to pay for salaries?

No, salaries are not eligible costs.

2.Does the “Seed fund” cover overheads?

No, these are institutional funds allocated from the LS4FUTURE budget at each partner institution.

3.Can a PI be involved in more than one application?

Each PI is only allowed to participate once as applicant or co-applicant (those that received funding) but may be involoved in other projects

4.The specific topics for the designated international call my team wishes to apply for have not been released yet, can I still apply?

Yes, please provide an explanation about the context of the call and why your work topic is likely to be within its remit.
