Through hands-on exercises, small-group discussions, and practical tools, the course fostered an active learning environment, while also allowing participants time to reflect on their own writing practices and identify what works best for them.
The first day focused on the macrostructure of scientific writing, while the second explored how to improve the language and flow of scientific texts.
Participants learnt strategies to overcome common writer’s block, write with the reader in mind, and critically analyse other people’s writing to understand what makes a text more compelling or more difficult to follow.
Our trainer, Martina Michalikova from Writing Scientist, introduced participants to practical tools for developing effective scientific writing, from prewriting, structuring, and drafting to reviewing and proofreading. She explored how to address the questions why, how, what, and so what when writing a scientific paper. Martina also shared valuable tips on paragraph and sentence structure.
We would like to thank iNOVA4Health, Câmara de Oeiras, our trainer, and all participants for making this such an engaging and rewarding course!
